Getting there... Have started to work on blue and purples to create more contrasts. Also I've tried to accentuate some of the colours to get them more vibrant - meaning I've added more paint and in different hues.
Well, this is really not day 7, as I said when I started this. I've had days in between where I've done little silly things - as I call them - but all part of what it takes to create a finished work.
I've now gotten rid of the copper and have added black in stead. Is also playing around with some small paint skins, to add different kind of textures and help to make the paintings flow better. I now need to work on the blue and purple and then just do some more 'fiddling' so shouldn't be long before they are done.. (that is if I'm happy with them - otherwise they'll never be done :) Added a bit of copper - but don't really like it, so think I'll change that to... maybe black... I've used some more orange to break through some of the other shapes - and mixed orange into the pink.
Going back in with more yellow and more red - strengthening the shapes. Also I'm working on two small canvases - just using up left-over paint
Starting to introduce other colours - green and different shades of yellow. Starting to work on the 'lay-out' as well.... which is something that happens intuitively :)
Welcome to my new blog. Whether I'm going to keep up adding to this blog I'm not sure - as I'm also trying to keep my Facebook page updated. So it's all down to time and whether I have anything to say I guess.
For me being an artist means that you show sides of yourself that you wouldn't - perhaps - always show off like that. You're putting your heart out there for everybody to step on - with people telling you that; 'my daughter could do this' or 'a monkey could have done that'. And all you can think is - 'well, why don't they then....'. It's like when you see another artist's new work - and you think 'why didn't I think of this...'. It's not the execution itself - it's getting the idea that's challenging. Once you've got the idea it's all down to getting it done and work hard until you're happy with the result - that's the 'easy' part :) My idea for this blog is to show work in progress... even though that means I have to be brave. One thing is to show finished work which can - as I mentioned above - be heartbreaking. But showing work in progress - that's REALLY scary! Work in progress means that I'm showing all my mistakes along the way - I'm showing all my doubts and most of all - I'm showing work that I'm not even sure of - work that might be changed later, so it's like showing a draft document - or maybe myself in the morning before putting on make-up :D So.. it's not going to be 'pretty'... |
