You have to be brave...

Welcome to my new blog. Whether I'm going to keep up adding to this blog I'm not sure - as I'm also trying to keep my Facebook page updated. So it's all down to time and whether I have anything to say I guess.

For me being an artist means that you show sides of yourself that you wouldn't - perhaps - always show off like that. You're putting your heart out there for everybody to step on - with people telling you that; 'my daughter could do this' or 'a monkey could have done that'. And all you can think is - 'well, why don't they then....'.

It's like when you see another artist's new work - and you think 'why didn't I think of this...'. It's not the execution itself - it's getting the idea that's challenging. Once you've got the idea it's all down to getting it done and work hard until you're happy with the result - that's the 'easy' part :)

My idea for this blog is to show work in progress... even though that means I have to be brave. One thing is to show finished work which can - as I mentioned above  - be heartbreaking. But showing work in progress - that's REALLY scary! Work in progress means that I'm showing all my mistakes along the way - I'm showing all my doubts and most of all - I'm showing work that I'm not even sure of - work that might be changed later, so it's like showing a draft document - or maybe myself in the morning before putting on make-up :D

So.. it's not going to be 'pretty'...
